An Artist Proof is known as a print intended for the artist's personal use.
It is common practice to reserve approximately ten percent of an edition as artist's proofs although this
figure can be higher. Artist's proofs can be distinguished by the abbreviation AP or it can
be spelled out on the work. It is a highly regarded classification in the art community.
Please pay particular attention to the fact that these are Danny Day's Artist Proofs
and are very low numbered. These are each #1 of the series!

This piece is known as a special "Tribute to Carroll Shelby".
It was featured at a special event in LaJolla, CA, Saturday, July 31, 2004, honoring Carroll Shelby
and the Cobra's. Carroll Shelby was present to endorse and sign the piece.
It has been beautifully framed with a large black face that has a stunning red border around the
painting.
It is an absolutely outstanding piece of artwork featuring the Shelby Cobra and the Ford Mark IV!
The frame measures 32" X 36" and the actual piece measures about 22" X 26". The frame is about a 4"

Our second piece of automotive artwork is of the same quality as the Carroll Shelby piece, but
it is quite rare in that little artwork has been created about Dan Gurney, and even further, Dan
Gurney has autographed very few items.
This offering is an original Artist Proof painting by the well known artist, Danny Day, and is also known
as a special "Tribute to Dan Gurney".
It was featured at the same special Carroll Shelby event in La Jolla, CA, Saturday, July 31, 2004, wherein Dan Gurney
was present to endorse and sign the piece. Bear in mind that Dan Gurney has signed very few pieces, and that day he
signed only a very, very few!
It has been beautifully framed with a large black face that has a stunning red border around the
painting. The frame is about a 4" flat black wood finish with about a 3" border of black felt up to the red picture

It is also an outstanding piece of artwork that features the Gurney-Eagle Dan Gurney raced at the Indy

is also known as a special "Tribute to Phil Hill".
It was featured at the same special event in La Jolla, CA, Saturday, July 31, 2004, wherein Phil Hill
was present to endorse and sign the piece.
It has been beautifully framed with a large black face that has a stunning red border around the

It is also an outstanding piece of artwork that features the famous Tipo 156 "SharkNose" Ferrari

Another piece of automotive artwork by Danny Day is a limited edition acryligraph canvas that represents the Ferrari World
racing from the early days through current F1 featuring champions Phil Hill and John Surtees.
Phill Hill's 1961 championship was the result of the toughest seasonlong battles in Grand Prix history. Hill drove his
Tipo 156 Ferrari to victory at Monza, Italy to clinch the 1961 Driver's title.
John Surtees made his racing car debut in 1960 after previously capturing 7 world motorcycle championships for Team
MV Agusta. From that point John Surtees went on with a long F1 career which included the 1964 world championship for Ferrari!
This piece pays tribute to both racers for their fabulous efforts.
It was featured at a special Ferrari event in La Jolla, CA, Saturday, January 24, 2004,
at the local Ferrari dealership. Both Phil Hill and John Surtees were present to endorse and sign the piece.
It is very nicely framed with a large black face with a stunning red border to
complement the coloration of the art piece. The frame is about a 4" flat black wood finish border.

This item is from the same special event held in La Jolla, CA, on Saturday, July 31, 2004, as above mentioned to commemorate Carroll Shelby, Phil Hill, and Dan Gurney who were all present.
The main street in La Jolla,CA, Girard Avenue, was that Saturday lined with Shelby autos in front of the presenting art gallery that hosted the event to feature the "Bitten By Snake" art work done by well known detail artist Danny Day.
As an introduction for the event the gallery had prepared this 5.5" X 8.5" color postcard mailer and had mailed it out to prospective Shelby enthusiasts.
This offering is for an original and uncirculated color postcard mailer that was that day signed both by Carroll Shelby and by Danny Day in silver marker ink.
It is an extremely unusual and very rare item, and there is not another like it in existence!
It is definitely a very unusual piece of history that will only increase in value over time.

It is a very unique, original piece and was also a basis for Danny Day for the vehicles he depicted in additional oil paintings.
There are very few of the John Surtees pencil sketches in existence, and with John Surtees death on March 10, 2017, this very, very rare offering takes on greater value.
The Ferrari depicted appears to be an early F1 series model.
This piece was also featured at the special Ferrari event in La Jolla, CA, Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the local Ferrari dealership. John Surtees was present then to endorse and sign the piece.

Please Note: There are a few minor scratches on the external face of the frame, and there is a small "nick" on the top of the frame. These marks can easily be repaired. The scratches happened recently when the artwork was moved!
